Our Story

How it all started...

North Star Church was born from a deep desire to see disciples making disciples throughout the Iron Range and beyond. In 2007, Pastor Tim and Stefanie Maki returned to Hibbing with a vision for an Acts 1:8 movement—a church built on biblical community, intentional disciple-making, and the multiplication of leaders.
Long before public services began, the foundation of North Star was being laid through LIFE Groups, leadership development, prayer, and the training of everyday believers to live on mission. What started in a small office soon grew into a movement of people committed to loving Jesus, serving one another, and reaching their communities with the gospel.
From the very beginning, our heart has been to equip and send. Through church planting, ministry training, and raising up the next generation of leaders, North Star has remained focused on making disciples who make disciples. By God's grace, that same mission continues today as we seek to love all, worship One, and faithfully follow wherever He leads.

Expanding the vision...

In order to expand our mission and vision of making disciples of Jesus Christ, The Living Room Coffee House , a non-profit  built on the values of radical generosity and intentional hospitality, was formed. More than just a place to enjoy great coffee, it serves as an avenue for building authentic relationships and creating opportunities to walk out the relational connection we believe Christ calls us to. As a downtown church that loves and serves our community, this space allows us to extend the love of Jesus beyond our walls, fostering meaningful conversations, genuine fellowship, and opportunities for discipleship and transformation.

Where we are headed...

As we look to the future, North Star Church remains focused on loving all and worshiping One by making disciples who make disciples of Jesus Christ. We believe God has called us to continually equip and raise up leaders who will serve, plant churches, and multiply the Kingdom far beyond our local community. Through intentional disciple making, local outreach, and global missions, our desire is to reach everyone, everywhere, one person at a time with the hope of Jesus Christ. We strive to be a church that sends, serves, and loves well—faithfully stewarding every opportunity God gives us to see lives transformed for His glory. We remain committed to prayer and fasting, seeking the Lord's wisdom and trusting Him to reveal the methods, opportunities, and direction for each new season of ministry.
